Did You Know…
Legendary director Alfred Hitchcock has a long history working with Universal Pictures. Already established as a bona fide filmmaker in Hollywood in the 1940s, Hitchcock directed Saboteur (1942) and Shadow of a Doubt (1943) as his first two productions at Universal. Following the success of those productions, Hitchcock worked with various studios and directed some of his most iconic films such as Rear Window (1954) and Vertigo (1958). In 1960, Hitchcock directed perhaps his most famous film Psycho (1960). Under his own production company, Shamley Productions, Hitchcock shot the film on the Universal Studios lot. Following Psycho (1960), Hitchcock reunited with Universal with his direction of The Birds (1963) and MCA’s (parent company of Universal) acquisition of Shamley Productions. The acquisition of Hitchcock’s production company gave Universal rights to Psycho (1960) and his popular television properties, but also Hitchcock’s filmmaking talent going forward. Hitchcock would direct five more feature films with Universal including Marnie (1964), Torn Curtain (1966), Topaz (1969), Frenzy (1972) and Family Plot (1976).

So I decided to continue with these film lists. (Mostly because they give me something to do between my classes and on slow days at work). This list consists of some, but not all, of my favorite horror films from the 1980’s.
*Note: These are films that I consider “Must Watch” for the Halloween season. I am not claiming they are the best and I’m not stating that you have to enjoy them as much as I do. This list was put together to share some personal favorites with film-fans. That’s it.
